COMPETITIONS
Every year the Middlesbrough Circle of Magicians host competitions in which members can win trophies and prizes. These are also open nights where family and friends are invited to come along to enjoy a night of entertainment.
A mixture of magic and non-magic judges are used so they are marked for not only technical ability but also entertainment value.
Will Fleet Trophy for Stage Magic
Current Holder: Chris Cowl
The Will Fleet Cup is awarded bi-annually for Stage Magic.
Dr. Hebblethwaite Trophy for
Close Up Magic
Current Holder: Eamonn McClurey
The Hebblethwaite Trophy is awarded for the best close-up performer.
Jimmy Green Wand for Themed Parlour Performance
Current Holder: Tim Lichfield
The Jimmy Green Wand is awarded for the best "Parlour Magic" performance.
Bill Ripley 'Top Hat' Trophy Best Trick Night
Current Holder: Matt Cooper
The Bill Ripley Best Trick Night is held twice a year.
Each magician performs one trick to the members who then vote for the winner.
Peter and Gwen Moreton Champagne Bucket for Service to the Circle
Current Holder: Eamonn McClurey
Although not a competition, this is an award given by the circle committee to a member who has gone above and beyond with their service to the circle.
Alan Taylor Trophy for Roadshow Magic
Current Holder: Eric Leonard and Steve Lewis
Awarded by the committee to a member who has taken their time to help with roadshows for the circle.
